"Fiddler Abstraction", original painting,

painted in ink and acrylic paint on heavy weight, acid free water color paper, size 18 x 24 inches (46cm x 61cm) .

Abstract, expressive painting of a Jewish fiddler somewhere in a shtetl, evoking feelings of nostalgia as well as metaphors of identity and culture. There are rich, vibrant tones of blue, green, turquoise and other Fauve colors in this painting.

The ink line drawing is spontaneous and raw and very expressive. The acrylic paint is bright and vibrant and gives the painting texture. The heavy weight paper shows through in many places providing additional texture and interest. This painting is on paper so you will have to have it framed (it is sold without a frame). You can get quite a different 'look' with different frames - see some examples below.
